Kandahar - The two Dutch soldiers who were killed on Saturday have been commemorated in a speech at an air field in Kandahar. During a special parade, the Dutch flag was hung at half-mast and a minute's silence was observed.
The two men died in a battle against the Taliban on Saturday, when they were hit by friendly fire.
Two Afghan soldiers were also killed by Dutch fire.
The Ministry of Defence says darkness and bad weather conditions contributed to the confusion of battle. The ministry and military police have begun investigations into the incident.
It is not clear when the bodies of the men will return to the Netherlands. Their return depends on when weather conditions improve.
